The 4.0 update, keeping and storing the entire old set of algorithms?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering how much is different with the update before i commit...
are a lot of the algo's different? only some? specifics?
I was just thinking that since i have a sweet mem-card, that i could save them higher up in the list?
