Emote Problem in Cubase

I've been having an ongoing problem with Emote in Cubase 11 Pro.

I have Emote instantiated on my template's mix bus, but when I call up the template, or a project derived from that template, Emote fails to connect to the H9000.

I have call up a second instance of Emote, and then copy my settings over from the first instance...the one that won't connect. The second instance connects properly. So IOW Emote has to be a new instance in order for it to connect properly.

I think Emote is also the cause of an error message I see when starting Cubase. It says a plugin caused a problem, and gives me to option to disable third-party plugins.

I'm using Windows 10, latest version.

Hi wvought,

What is your Emote software version? (you can see this by hovering over the Eventide logo in Emote)

Also, what is your H9000 firmware version? (As shown on Emote's devices page)

Emote is 1.3.0[10](eab755234).

The only thing I see on the devices page re the H9000 is "Rev G".

OK, let me correct that:

When I hover my mouse over the Eventide logo, it says 1.3.0(12).

1.3.0(10) etc. was most likely the firmware version.

I took a look at this and it seems like the issue stems from having multiple Cubase projects open at once. As a workaround, could you try closing your current project before loading and activating another one (or creating another one from a template)? Let me know if that works for you.

Anyways, this is a bug and I've made a ticket for it in our internal bug tracking system (EMOTE-668).

The Emote problem happens consistently even when I have only one project open, which is almost always the case.

I rarely have multiple Cubase projects open at one time.

To clarify, do you run into this issue when you first open Cubase and load your first project with an instance of Emote in it, or is it only when you load subsequent projects?

Also, when you say that Emote fails to connect, does it attempt to connect and fail (you should see a blue "e" symbol, and a dialog box when Emote eventually fails to connect)? Or is the button to connect greyed out and not working?

It happens every time I open Cubase, no matter if I have multiple projects open or not, IF Emote is already in the project.

So for example, I have Emote instantiated on the mix bus of my Cubase template. But Emote always fails to connect when I open the template.

Emote does attempt to connect, but fails. I see the blue e symbol, with the text "Connecting". But it doesn't connect. I just opened up my Cubase template and tried this. I let it run for 5 minutes, but Emote did not connect.

At the risk of confusing things: Apparently if Emote is already in the project, it will connect if I open Cubase while the H9000 is off, and then start the H9000. Once the H9000 boots up I can connect the previously-instantiated Emote. I just tried this.

I just finished installing Emote on my new computer (Creation Station CS450 v6-2), and the same problem is occurring, just like on my old computer.

As noted previously, I can work around it by inserting a second instance of Emote, which so far always connects properly, and copying the settings from the first instance (the one that won't connect), then deleting the first instance.

But it would be nice if I didn't have to do that.

For some reason this has changed, and Emote is now connecting properly on my new computer. i guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope it continues to connect properly.
