Eventide Fission Splits, say “Hello” to Physion

January 25, 2018 — Little Ferry, NJ — In response to a formal request, Eventide today announced the renaming of their Structural Effects™ plug-in, Fission, to Physion™.

Fission has been nominated for a TEC Award and in its short life it's already been used by legendary engineers and producerslike Tony Visconti and Steve Rosenthal. It has even helped give life to the Shadow Monster in the Netflix series Stranger Things.

Fission is truly groundbreaking as acknowledged in its many rave reviews with comments including:

  • "...opens up a whole new universeof processing possibilities" —Computer Music
  • "...a new level of sound design like no other plug-in can deliver" —Releasetime
  • idea that no other company to our knowledge has attempted" —All Things Gear
  • "It’s so clever that it begs the question: why has noone done this before?" —Gearslutz
  • "Despite its initial apparent similarity to traditional transient shapers, Eventide has come up with something very new and different". —Ask Audio

Can this be karma? Given that Fission is so clearly different from anything that has come before it deserves a new, non-traditional, name: Physion.

“Naming things is always a challenge, and someone else was already using the name Fissionfor an audio software product. So, in response to a formal request, we are renaming our product, Physion” said an Eventide spokesperson. “After all, a Rose by any other name...”

The name change is immediate. Hello, Physion.
