  Just downloaded VsigX fantastic as I thought there was only a PC Editor
  
  I am a new user to the H8000FW but owned a eclipse before.
  
  All this is new to me. I just wondered ifi can configure this over firewire or if i need a serial cable to usb (where can I get one of these? I mean are they rare?)

  VsigX is supported by good people outside of Eventide, so we don't know too much about it.
  
  My understanding is that it has MIDI, not serial. So, you should be able to talk to it over MIDI over FireWire (make sure you have V5.3).

  was just reading the manual and it says
  
  vSigX should be configured to connect to your Eventide Ultra-Harmonizer using a USB Serial Adapter and
  a standard 9 pin serial communications cable. Connecting via Midi is not supported yet; see the bit above
  concerning cash

  Also do i need a key span adaptor or can i just buy any Serial to USB?
  
  The reason I ask is that i recently bought PI express card for my mac pro and the firewire doesn't work with it.

  As Nick previously stated, VsigX isn't supported by Eventide at the moment.
  
  In my experience you'll be fine using THE Keyspan USB>Serial adapter. It's a good one that works fine with Macintosh computers.
