      Hi

I want to send a pc message from H9 to ML5 and include some of non midi pedals in the preset. But I don’t know whats going wrong with this because when I put ML5 on learn and try to save choosing a pc message on H9, the ML5 is not getting it i guess. I have a small video https://ufile.io/o9yikjg6 . I wish someone could help me here.

Hello hjavpt, I do not recommend using the H9 to send commands to your ML5. You should be sending those from an actual MIDI controller like an MC3 or MC6. The H9 can only ever send PC and CC#s, but those cannot be customized to control an ML5.

Right so I cant even program it to have lets say 3 presets in H9 where i can activate different pedals connected to ML5?

Not possible. The H9 can only send PC (program change) messages and any CC (controller change) information has to come from an expression pedal, external aux switch, or knob. Any commands to operate the ML5 have to come from an external controller.

Joe, your posts and videos are always so clear and filled with reliable information that I have to believe that I already know the answer to the following follow-up question but …

When an H9 right footswitch is set to increment presets, can that H9 output that function to another H9 (a slave if you will) to also increment presets along with it?

I think you just said “no” but I had to ask.  Many thanks for your anticipated response.

      Hi apalazzolo,

No, the H9’s right footswitch cannot send messages to downstream H9s. However, the way around this is using an auxiliary switch to send the CC messages to increment; the H9’s Expression Pedal, knobs and Aux Switches can be used as MIDI controllers. So, if you program an aux switch to increment, the Leader H9 can send that CC message downstream. You would need to program the Follower H9 to increment when it receives that CC# (RCV.CTL). The Leader H9’s XMT.CC has to be set to the same CC#. Also, I believe CTL.XMT must be set to ON.

Ok Understood and thank you. Btw it’s crazy what we can do with a Midi controller like the Morningstar + 1 or 2 H9’s. Thanks
