        Hello.

I own an H90 and a Friedman IRX. I would like to know if I can use the H90 to change the IRX channels (changing them along with the H90 presets) using a MIDI cable connected between them.

I also own a Chocolate Plus M-Vave USB MIDI controller. Is it possible to use it with the H90?

        Thank you.

          Hello,

Yes, you just need to set the output mode to Transmit and whenever you load a Program on the H90 it will send a PC message: https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h90/1.11.4/content/system-menu/midi.html

You may also want to turn the PC offset setting to 1.

You cannot connect that MIDI controller to the H90 wirelessly, but it should work with a TRS to DIN adapter such as this: https://store.eventideaudio.com/collections/cables/products/trs-to-midi-adapter-cable

Let me know if you have any other questions.

            Thank you for your reply.

My knowledge of MIDI is quite limited.

I connected the H90 and the Friedman IRX using a 5-pin MIDI cable. I changed the output mode to Transmit and the PC offset setting to 1 (since the IRX works with PCs from 0 to 127). Furthermore, I left both on channel 1.

However, I couldn’t configure the controls so that changing a preset on the H90 by pressing one of the pedals also changes the channel/preset on the IRX.

I would like to know if it’s possible to do this without using any additional tools, just with the MIDI cable connection.

If so, how do I configure the H90 presets to correspond to a channel/preset on the IRX?

I’ve attached the IRX’s MIDI CC list below for assistance.

Finally, another question is regarding the Mvave Chocolate Plus pedal. Besides the wireless option, it has USB MIDI and P2 inputs (as shown in the attached image). Is it possible to use it in conjunction with the H90?

            Thank you.

              Hello,

Sorry I’m not familiar with using the IRX. When loading different presets/programs, you are dealing with PC (Program Change) messages, not CC (Continuous Controller) messages. PC messages are detailed on page 8 of the IRX manual here: https://friedmanamplification.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Friedman_IRX-Manual-v2.2-Web.pdf

When you load a Program on the H90, it send out a PC message. There is nothing further to setup on the H90 besides what you have done already. If you are still having issues you’ll need to contact Friedman for assistance with the IRX.

MIDI USB will not work for that controller. I’m not sure what you mean by P2 inputs. MIDI TRS is most likely the only way to use that controller with an H90.

                Hello.

After making the configurations I indicated, how can I map the PC commands on the H90 to their corresponding inputs on the IRX? Would it be through the control assignments in the H90 control app?

For example, I have a preset with chorus and delay, and I want it to correspond to a preset on channel 1 of the IRX when activated.

On the other hand, in another preset with delay and reverb, I want it to correspond to a preset on channel 2 of the IRX when activated.

Regarding the Mvave, I was referring to the standard P2 input, which in the photo above is indicated with the term “pedal”. I was wondering if I can use it with a TRS cable (using a P10/P2 adapter, of course) and connect it to the H90’s expression input to obtain an external auxiliary switch, or even with a TRS MIDI cable as you suggested.

You can use the H90 Control app to rearrange your programs. You can simple drag and drop the programs using the list on the left side of the app.

You can organize your list so the chorus and delay is program 1 and the delay and reverb is program 2.

It looks like the M Vave has a control pedal input. The H90 also has a control pedal input. These devices are not compatible with each via that connection. You need something with an expression or Aux output to connect to the H90.
