You might want to try Polyphony as an alternative. Map the Shift intervals manually to expression, between unison & an octave or two up. The Auto EQ parameter can help smooth out the top end.
In fact, ‘though the ‘recommended’ setting is at 10, sometimes I’ll map a range of Auto EQ alongside the pitch shifts. Another thing to try is the Inst Type toggle. Again, the recommended value for large pitch shifts would be Pitched. But I often prefer the results that a Percussive setting brings, especially with an instrument with a hard attack.
