I feel a little dumb for not being able to figure this out, but is there a way to have one of the 3 H90 buttons dedicated as a permanent tap switch, whether a preset is loaded using tap or BPM, or whether the unit is bypassed?  I’m doing it ok with an external switch, but pedalboard real estate would work better if it could be on the unit itself.  I will not need the buttons on the unit itself for programs or preset on/off.

Yes. In PERFORM mode, press the P LED button until you see the “TAP:120 BPM” option on the display. If you save the Program having made this assignment you can use P footswitch to control tap tempo. When Tempo Sync is ON, the flashing light will be a BPM indicator. When Tempo Sync is OFF, it’s best to press the LED button (A or B) that corresponds to the position of the time-based effect you want to control until you see “TAP” appear on the display. This will allow you to set the time in milliseconds. You can find a clear explanation of tempo in this video: https://youtu.be/tfd3wQHzxcA?si=LXGNY-avXhj0OnuW
