Hello Eventide team,
I recently purchased an H90, and one of my main intended use cases was live vocal processing, both for creative songwriting and real-time vocal experimentation.
After spending time with it, I realized that the latency on certain algorithms, especially VocalTune and Harmonizer+ algorithms like QuadraVox+, is high enough that it makes it very difficult for me to sing in real time. The latency is such that I’m not able to comfortably use these effects even at the songwriting stage, simply coming up with melodies and ideas, not final takes or performance-critical situations.
This is a bit disappointing for me, because algorithms like QuadraVox+ sound genuinely fantastic. The vocoder-like harmonies you can achieve are extremely inspiring and do things a traditional vocoder can’t do. Sonically, this is exactly the kind of creative vocal processing I was hoping to use while writing, but the latency makes it impractical in my workflow.
I’ve noticed that some algorithms offer a low-latency mode, while others do not, and the difference is very noticeable. I was wondering whether there’s anything else that can be done to reduce latency on these vocal and harmony algorithms, or if you’re considering future updates that might help address this. Live vocal processing was a major selling point of the H90 for me, so I wanted to better understand what might be possible going forward.
I don’t mean this as criticism, but rather as a genuine request for information or potential solutions, as creatively this side of the H90 is very appealing to me.
Thanks very much for your time.
