I watched the video again, there is something similar around 17 minutes in, but they do not clearly explain it. Probably the biggest problem for me is that I have not found a clear explanation on how the hardware IO related to the software inserts, it’s very confusing.

1. Insert 1 is pre effects, insert 2 is post effects, however I have tried them in all positions.

2. Yes, mix is set to 0% or something other than 100% depending on what I am trying to achieve.

3. I have tried them in both series and parallel.

4. All H90 effects are set to Kill Dry.

I was trying not to explain my full setup because I didn’t think it relevant to what I am asking about. I am just trying to find out if I can use an insert to connect an external effect while doing a simple wet dry and if so how to do that.

Here are more details: My primary instrument is guitar but I took this gig as the bass player for a 3 piece 90’s rock band, SO this is my bass rig.

My rig is bass via wireless to a volume pedal –> 1176 Compressor –> H90 Input 1; H90 Output 1 (wet )to front end of a guitar amp;  H90 Output 3 to front end of a Bass amp. I am trying to find out what hardware IO to use to connect the ES-5 (see below) and how to configure the software.

I am using a Boss ES-5 switcher to control MIDI for the H90 and any pedals that I connect to the ES-5. The pedals that are connected to the ES-5 are distortion and fuzz style pedals. The reason being that the H90 distortion algorithms are not useful to me in many cases,  meaning that I don’t like them although there are a couple of cases where they are useful.

I could do a workaround by using an amp with an effects loop and send the output of the ES-5 directly to the amps front end and use the effects loop for the wet signal. This creates more complexity to the rig which makes it less dependable at a gig. Ideally, I want as few cables to connect at a gig, and therefore do as much of the heavy lifting on my pedal board.

I hope this makes sense, this is the last ditch effort to use this pedal in a giging situation since I found the MIDI implementation unacceptable for my guitar rig.  Playing bass, I am mostly going clean with just the compression but I want to wet dry to fatten up the sound of a trio and I do use the H90 effect a bit.
