I’m trying to power a Line6 DL4 with the PowerMax. The pedal requires 1200mA of current, so I’m using the 8800 parallel adapter plugged into two 9v outlets on the PowerMax. Connected to that is a type 3 (yellow) standard flex cable, which matches the barrel size and polarity of the DL4. I believe I’m doing everything right, but the pedal won’t power up with this configuration. The pedal does work otherwise, including with batteries, but as soon as I plug the cable from the PowerMax in, it turns off. What could be the problem here?

Hello, while I’m familiar with the DL4 I have never owned one. However I’m not familiar with the PowerMax. The first thing I question is what is the voltage requirement for the DL4 (9 or 18 Volts or more)? While you could be supplying a source capable of handling the current requirements you may not be supplying the proper voltage. What is the voltage at the plug being put into the DL4? That must be correct. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Out of curiosity could you be more specific or provide a link to this PowerMax supply? Thanks.

The DL4 takes 9 volts. I’m certain that the voltage I’m giving it is correct.
Here’s a link to the Eventide PowerMax: https://store.eventideaudio.com/products/powermax

You may want to contact Line6 and ask what they suggest. The pedal may not actually require that much current.

Thanks for the link. I’m a dummy! Im familiar with the Eventide PSU (Cioks/Powermax)…had a brain slip, I’m getting old.
Seems like you got a grip on the electrical aspect. Something I would do is use a multimeter and go inline with the input/circuit and get an actual voltage and current reading when connected. I know that it is a quality and sturdy PSU, but I would be curious to see what type (if any) voltage drop and current draw is happening when first connected and plugged in for a period.(in rush current, etc.) These digital devices can be sensitive to supply power…1200mA is quite the draw for a pedal only using 9V and relying on general (non specific) supply instead what was supplied. I had Digitech Whammy that was very sensitive to what PSU was used. Basically the one that came with it was the only one that was reliable. I built a supply with high quality parts and sufficient filtering and that would work without all sorts of digital hash and noise like generic wall warts.
Contacting directly to either Line 6 or Eventide is not a bad idea either.
