        Hello!

It seems that people have been requesting this for years now. Will it ever happen?

        Thanks.

Hi! That’s an exciting idea, I’d love to see something like this as well, and it’s definitely possible that we’ll release something like this in the future.

What kind of specific features would you like to see?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Attack and decay parameters (when the effect comes in after engaging and when it releases after disengaging / how abrupt or gradual the signal starts and stops)

            Filter

Vibrato, tremolo, other effects for the frozen signal

            Thank you!

+1 as a full time music teacher. This would help my students and allow quick access to drones without creating dedicated presets!

Being able to pitch up the drone via an intervals knob that changes the note of the frozen drone – on the fly with an external footswitch or midi controller would be appreciated.

Being able to improvise over this would be a blast.

Would love to see a Pitch section like on the Superego+ pedal by EHX. A gliss functionality that would allow frozen chords to glide from one to another.

I have a real soft spot for music education, and those working to save it from extinction.  I modified a 3 year old Program that might fit your needs.  Dual FREEZE, FLEX alternates, and plenty of ways to change intervals on-the-fly.  All the details can be found in the Program Notes.

For what it’s worth, I’m also all-in on a dedicated SuperEgo-style algorithm.  My ‘vision’ packs on diatonic arpeggios constrained to scale.

                          – Brock thank you so much! So kind of you. I look forward to downloading this and using it with my students! Thanks again!

Happy to help, if I can.  I never had the opportunity for a proper music education.  Self-taught, and I had to back into it much later on by scouring for books.

It’s a fairly complex Program, trying to fit in as many options as possible.  So let me know how it goes with the students, and if it needs any modifications to clarify the processes.

I originally had another one in mind, but it’s more synth-centric, with freezing sequencer patterns.

Mr. Lee, you need to deduct points for how I parsed the PEDALS description in the Program Notes.  Please cover for me before your students get ahold of this:

                              PEDALS
                              EXP1 – Pan A & Manual Flex A (P/F1 & P/F2) + P/F1 Detune
                              EXP2 – Pan B & Manual Flex B (P/F1 & P/F2) + P/F2 Detune

For makeup credit, I’ll mention a few more potential avenues to explore:

                              • FREEZE A (and/or) B will survive a Bypass, at either the Program or Preset level.  Yes, there already is dry + freeze happening, but this opens up additional options for fine-tuning the final output.
                              • FREEZE A (and/or) B will also survive Hot-Switching.  By modifying all of the Shift & Flex intervals to taste (with Flex Time & Return Time dialed down to None), you end up with 8 ‘instant’ transpositions of the ongoing FREEZE.
                              • One set of intervals for Program, HS1-HS2-HS3, plus an alternate FLEX configuration in each one.

I tried it, very cool, thanks Brock!!

I use the H9 gen 2 in kill dry so the polyphony/polyflex freezes don’t usually end up working too well. Without the attack and decay parameters I haven’t really spent any time trying to trouble shoot it anyway.

As soon as the superego-style algorithm exists I am back to an H90 in a heartbeat. Until then I’m rocking with the H9 for the polyphonic pitch shifting, and using either a superego plus or an hx stomp for freezing capabilities. Would just be so great to have the pitch shifting and freeze functions both on the H90.

Going from the H90 to an H9 Gen 2, it does force a different approach of sorts.  A leaner ‘economy’ to programming, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  It’s a godsend to now have the interchangeability between both devices.

Having both, you might consider checking out the Gen 2 as an insert into the H90.  The symbiosis of both devices leads to some incredible possibilities, with all those variable routings of three distinct presets.

A couple more thoughts on this.  Adding a looping toggle to this envelope would produce tremolo waveshapes.  I really like the trigger options from the Granular set.  I could see an AutoRetrig or Env Sens-type parameter covering the attack onsets & sustain level / release points of a freeze.

Freeze (manual trigger) under the Performance switches is a good option.  But I can see it being useful as an algorithm-level toggle as well.  That way, it can be triggered, while other values are also modified by HotSwitches or EXP pedals.

I’ll point out that I regularly use all the Freeze options in pitch, synth, and reverbs already.  Lots of unique flavors to choose from, and each of them can be modulated in some way or another.  But I believe we’re talking about something a little different here:  Capturing the input signal itself, then processing it.
