I do tweak heads a few percent +/- to simulate real world imperfections of tape heads. I mapped this to a hot knob along with wow/flutter, and filter to degrade my tape along with the heads and darken the repeats as I creep the hot knob upwards

I haven’t played much with speed, but there is an opportunity to flick it between half and full speed to generate octaves on the repeats as well.
