Hi all. I’m posting this in case someone else encounters it. I was able to get everything fixed, but it definitely took a few hours of troubleshooting.
I encountered this after upgrading to the latest version of Tahoe (macOS 26.6.8 to 26.7.1). When the upgrade completed I got a message upon login that some system extensions didn’t update and needed to be re-iniitialized. I should have screenshotted the dialog, but didn’t, so I’m not sure if that was related or not. But after the upgrade Eventide Control couldn’t access my H90 anymore, and removing the config and trying to re-add failed with an “Add Device Error: MIDI Input Device with identified XX is not available”. The address it listed changed after each client restart. Here’s what I encountered and did to finally fix it.
**Setup**
– Mac Studio M1 Ultra, macOS Tahoe 26.7.1
– H90 Control 2.2.0, H90 firmware v1.12.5
– H90 connected directly via USB (no hub)**Symptom**
After upgrading to Tahoe 26.7.1, H90 Control would not add my H90. Clicking Add Device gave:> Add Device Error: MIDI Input Device with identifier ‘-124437070’ is not available!
The identifier number was different on every attempt. Additionally, Bluetooth also failed: Control showed “connecting,” then silently gave up.
**What was NOT the problem**
– The H90 showed up in System Information > USB (Eventide, vendor ID 0x1b12, product ID 0x0041, 480 Mb/s).
– It appeared in Audio MIDI Setup’s MIDI Studio.
– Ableton Live listed the H90’s MIDI ports as valid.
– The same pedal and Control version connected fine from a MacBook Air M5 on macOS Golden Gate 27.0.1 (yes I know not supported yet, BUT it worked there), so the pedal, firmware, and cable were all fine.**Things I tried that did not help**
– Deleting and re-adding the H90 in Control
– Deleting the H90 from Audio MIDI Setup and replugging
– Different USB port, connecting directly to the Mac with no hub, and also tried a hub
– Fully reinstalling Control (removed with AppZapper)
– Removing and re-pairing the Bluetooth connection on both the Mac and the H90
– Full shutdown and restart (multiple times)**The fix**
Resetting the Mac’s MIDI configuration. I quit Control and any MIDI apps, backed up and then removed the contents of these:–
~/Library/Audio/MIDI Configurations/
–~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plistThen I rebooted. After that, H90 Control connected immediately. When I reopened MIDI Studio, a number of devices that had been missing were suddenly present and selectable, which suggests the old configuration had gotten corrupted or jammed during the OS upgrade.
**Heads-up**
This resets your custom MIDI setup (IAC buses, Network MIDI sessions, device groupings), so back up those files first and re-create anything you rely on.**What to look for if you see this**
– H90 visible in USB but H90 Control can’t add it
– A device identifier in the error that changes each attempt
– Other apps seeing the MIDI ports fine
– Same pedal working on another MacIf that matches, try the MIDI configuration reset before spending time on cables, ports, or reinstalls.

Hopefully this was just a fluke on my side, but in case anyone else encounters, I hope this helps.
