H7600 Version 5.22 Release Notes

This is a maintenance release with a number of small improvements and bug fixes, the main ones of which are listed below.

Improvements

Both actual MIDI channel and base+offset are shown on controller screens.

Bugs Fixed:

  • nextprog and prevprog both give next program
  • channel and other info are not visible from EXTRIG,EXTCONTR modules
  • MIDI base channel change does not cause change in actual channel. NOTE: after this upgrade, leave MIDI channel set at the default value to keep the same actual channel assignments.
  • when a preset is loaded with less channels than the one it replaces and signal is applied, a low level 12kHz tone or DC offset may appear on the unused channels.
  • if a program is loaded from a card and an <update> is performed the program is saved to internal memory rather than back to the card.
  • if the sample rate converted is enabled, it will become disabled at next powerup

New Modules (documentation in latest Vsig)

  • AUDIOMUX - audio multiplexer
  • COMPRESSOR2 - same as COMPRESSOR but smoother, uses more resources
  • DELAY_XF - Multi-Tap Crossfading Delay Line
  • EQS - Double Precision Series Equalizer
  • H3000OSC - H3000-type Modulation Oscillator
  • MODDETUN - Audio Signal Detuner with Modulation
  • OVERLOAD - Audio Signal Overload Detector
  • C_LOG - logarithm to any base
  • C_POWER - exponent generator
  • SMONITOR - combined monitor and text monitor

New double precision EQ presets

  • 12 40 DP_St.EQ45
  • 12 41 DP_St.EQ65
  • 12 42 DP Stereo8 Grafic Eq
H7600 V5.51 BETA (Mac/Win)
Version Compact Flash Card
Release Notes

This update requires a Compact Flash card and a Compact Flash reader connected to a Mac or PC.

Software updates are available to all registered users. For a list of changes, please see the release notes.

H7600 Version 5.51B1 Release Notes

  • Be aware that this is a beta release that may have undiscovered problems. Do not install it unless you have the time and ability to deal with the unexpected and under NO circumstances just before a tour or important gig or session.
  • This update may be performed using either a PC or a Mac. It can be installed by the use of a Compact Flash card, for which you will need a reader/writer. A preprogrammed card is available from Eventide. Alternatively, PC users may download the update via a serial (RS232) cable.
  • Be sure to fully read and understand the Release Notes on this and the following pages as well any included installation instructions before performing any upgrade.
  • A new version of the H7600 Presets Manual may be downloaded from the Eventide Web Site - the other manuals are unchanged at this time.

Improvements

  1. TimeFactor™ and ModFactor™ presets 9010-9119 have been added.
  2. A number of new modules have been added – these will be documented in the next version of Vsig, but should be viewed as unsupported until then.

Changes:

  1. MIDI Program Change will not reload the current program if it is unchanged.
  2. The support of PCMCIA sram cards is now discontinued.
  3. Preset 1312 “Don’t’ Go In The Cellar” is now 48K only

Bugs Fixed:

  1. Corrupted Vsig database was exported. In reality the database was fine - it was being sent too fast for most computers. The fix was to slow it down, ignoring the "Sysex Speed" setting, which could have otherwise been used for the same purpose.
  2. If a sigfile was downloaded, a MIDI Program change to the same location reports that he program is already loaded, even though it has been changed.
  3. Cannot add enough voices to MULTISHIFTER, DIATONIC. These were limited toabout 5, giving a spurious " too much xhigh_data" message.
  4. If multiple pedals are used on some newer systems, when very hot the reading will alternate between the pedals, giving a corrupted and choppy result.
  5. The Large Sampler could not save audio data to the Compact Flash card. Note:
    1. Saving audio has to be enabled by using the “save audio:” control.
    2. Saving and loading audio are slow.
    3. FAT32 cards are supported and have been tested up to 2GB.
  6. The BUSY light did not always light when accessing the card.
  7. Receiving a MIDIclock causes the port to lock to the source.
  8. A/D levels and meter sources were not updated when a setup was loaded.
  9. Some UltraShifter presets gave heavy distortion.
  10. Loading saved setups from Eve/Net did not work.
  11. <tap> and <run> keys did not work with Eve/Net.
  12. Eve/Net based remote assignments were saved, but are not set up at startup. (e.g. using USER button for <next prog>).
  13. Unable to navigate to TextTrigger with two or fewer displayed chars.
  14. TEXTTRIGGER display concatenates long strings - these have a maximum length of 10 characters.
  15. Channels 3/4 of 1033 StereoVerbs2 were distorted.
  16. A number of other presets had problems, usually in the form of distortion or feedback.
  17. On screen blocks that were supposed to flash (e.g. AES unlock warning) did not.
  18. if the sample rate converter is enabled, it will become disabled at next powerup
  19. if a setup is loaded, the routings and levels will not be updated until next powerup
  20. if "10 Factory Init" is loaded, a version number changed message occurs at next powerup

Installation Instructions for H7600 using a Compact Flash Card

This update comes as a ZIP file containing the H7600 family files

Do not perform this upgrade just before any critical session, tour or performance. Allow time to reconfigure any computer applications and to get to know the new software.

  1. Power down the H7600.
  2. The files in the ZIP should be extracted to a blank compact flash card (preferably 2Gb or smaller) for use. This will require a (cheap and widely available) Compact Flash card reader, usually connected via USB, or builtin to a modern computer. On Windows, be sure to right-click of the device name and select eject before removing the card. If you need to re-format the card, do this on your computer.
  3. This update can also be installed via a serial line (see below) – a pre-programmed update card PLC-11 may alternatively be purchased from Eventide if required.
  4. Once the card is prepared, insert it into the card slot using a suitable adaptor. Then hold down the [2] key and power up. Release the key upon request. When asked “do you want to run..”, hit the [yes] key. The update will take between five and twenty minutes.
  5. When the card update is complete, you may power down the unit and power up.
  6. After updating to a new operating system software version, a screen requesting permission to clear setups will appear when the system is restarted for the first time.

Eventide recommends answering "OK" to this prompt and clearing the setup. This will NOT erase any user presets but will reset all options set under the LEVELS and SETUP pages to the factory defaults. Failure to do this may cause unpredictable problems.

Installation Instructions for H7600 using a serial cable

If you are using a PC, and have no need to make update cards, use this procedure.

  1. You will need a 9 pin serial cable to connect between your PC and your system.
  2. There are two types of such cables.
    • A straight-through connection with each pin on one end of the cable connected to the same pin on the other end. Use this one.
    • A file transfer or crossover cable, designed for connecting two PCs together. Do NOT use one of these.
  3. Using your browser, download and run the Update Application – this will be a .EXE file. Depending on which browser you use, you may be able to “Run” the file or may have to “Save” it first and then “Open” it. You should answer “Yes” or “Run” to any security questions.
  4. Use the HELP button on the Update Application to get further instructions. Note also the following:
    • Close ALL other applications before continuing with the update, including your Web Browser.
    • Use default settings unless you have a good reason to do otherwise.
    • The upgrade will take between two and twenty minutes.
    • If you have trouble with this procedure, try again a few times. If unsuccessful, see
