Are you using Sierra, or High Sierra? (I ask because High Sierra was the OS that introduced the new file system). In any case, we have not encountered this problem on either of those OSes.

Please try the following:

1) Eject all mounted drives (under "Devices" in the Finder window)

2) Log out

3) Restart and log back in

4) Re-run installers

If you still have issues, please let me know.
