the program saves the presets it contains so if you want to save the program you must save the preset(s) within it first.

This is partially correct. The Program stores all settings including settings made to the individual presets. But if you want to make these preset changes discoverable in the preset library you have to manually store these as individual presets.

However it would be useful if the H90 would warn you when you’re leaving a program where you’ve done some tweaking or at least have such an option offered in the settings.

Any time you see an asterisk next to the Program name this indicates a change to one of the settings in P, A, or B has been made, and it’s your sign you need to save the Program before navigating away.
