Always better to fix it at the ‘source’, and I don’t believe that a global EQ is going to fix that for you, jononotbono. Not satisfactorily, anyway, without putting a phase-shifted wet blanket over it.
If that is indeed the Shimmer algorithm (and it sounds like it), the frequencies will keep on pitch-shifting up past the ceiling, while overlapping with newly shifted frequencies from input. Only a matter of time before it clashes.
I’m going to suggest a couple of alternatives, if you want to preserve those extremely long decay trails:
Active Mixing with your Foot:
- Map an expression pedal to Pitch Decay.
- Yes, you need at least one expression pedal for the H90.
- The Start point for EXP1 at around 80-100 (base setting, to taste).
- The End point for EXP1 all the way through Pitch Freeze and / or Pitch+Verb Freeze.
- That way, you can bring the tails in & out, and pull back before the overloading begins.
EZ Change – Crystals:
- Reverse delays, but you can get similar results with a few tweaks.
Intermediate Level – Roll Your Own Shimmer:
- Combine a ‘belltree’-like delay algo (H910 H949, HarModulator, etc.) In Series with any one of the reverb algos.
- Personally, I’d take advantage of the newer SIFT refinements, like Polyphony.(Feedback Sw = In);
- That way, you can individually configure the pitch shift, delay and reverb components. Mix ‘n’ match.
Let us know how all of this progresses for you. It helps with the remote diagnostics if you mention the specific Programs or Presets you’re using,
