I would like clarification on this. In this scenario, would you be using the H90 in Dual routing mode? If so, you can use the H90 as two independent mono processors. Path 1 of the H90 (I/O 1) would use QC Send/Return 1 and Path 2 of the H90 (I/O 3) would use QC S/R 2. If you are using Insert mode, the factory default, you may only use Output 1 for mono operation. If you use Out 3 or Out 4 it’s assuming your connecting the QC as an external effects processor, probably not what you want.
- Insert mode: disable insert 1, using only the main signal chain on H90 should work as a single FX loop block in QC. But what’s going to happen if I use insert 1 as another FX loop in QC? Insert works as part of the signal chain in H90, I can’t figure out what will happen if I using it as FX block in QC.
The H90 inserts are designed to allow you to place external effects within the H90’s signal chain. In other words, you would be able place QC processes anywhere within the H90 signal chain. Of course, you would be required to route things in the QC so they don’t interfere with the normal signal flow, otherwise you could create a nasty feedback loop. It’s more common for QC users to use Dual Routing mode and place each H90 path on it’s own FX Loop on the QC.
2. Dual mode: I get path 1&2 in mono, easy to understand. In QC I can use 2 FX loop blocks representing path 1&2 and put them anywhere in the signal chain.

Sounds like you are using two mono FX loops on the QC for stereo audio. Is there a way to link QC FX loops 1&2 together for true stereo functionality? I’m not familiar with the QC well enough to know if it’s possible. The reason it’s important is how it treats the stereo image (does it pan the signals appropriately?). The QC manual should tell you.
- Insert mode: same as using I/O 1&3 except the main signal chain becomes stereo without any insert.
No, if you are using I/O 1&3 you will not get stereo audio. You may actually break the signal path because Out 3 is used to send signal out of the IN 1/ Out 1 path. If you remove Insert 1 on the H90, it removes the loop from Out3 to In 3 (where an external effect would be), and the signal becomes stereo only if H90’s Out 1&2 are connected.
2. Dual mode: only path 1 is available but it’s in stereo, which makes no difference to insert mode above.
In Dual mode, the H90 acts as two independent mono or stereo effects processors. There are two Paths that are independent of one another.
Path 1 uses 1/O 1&2 for stereo or just 1 for mono
Path 2 uses 1/O 3&4 for stereo or just 3 for mono.
