Wanted to chime in that I really appreciate this discussion and exploration.
I plugged in the “volante” settings and compared to my self described el capistan and space echo presets. I skipped the 4th head, setting feedback on head 3 only
I applied the “Volante” settings the way I prefer, keeping heads 3 and 4, only which is a dotted eighth and quarter pairing, with feedback on 4, only. In gold and silver modes this moves the dotted eighth note into different places. For triplets, however, I prefer heads 1,2,3 enabled and 4 disabled as it lands on the quarter note, moving feedback to head 3, only, keeps repeats on triplet spacing
I like to keep the first head enabled on my “space echo” mode to splash the reverb that follows it, almost like a reverb pre delay before the 1/3 and 2/3 repeats, making them a little less hard cutting against 4/4 timing, which I don’t find necessary on 1/4 timed feedback path.
