I currently own an H9, a Picthfactor and a Timefactor, and am trying to get an expression pedal to work – the Sonicake FlipVol pedal (which met all the requirements on Eventide’s compatibility page).

The pedal works great with the two factor pedals (and an Amplitube X-Space pedal I have), but it will not work with the H9. I’ve tried everything I can think of. I thought it might’ve been the TRS cable, but then I tested it with other pedals and it’s fine. The pedal settings are set up for expression only (not both or aux) and I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting the cable, turning the H9 off and on, restarting the control software and even tried another TRS just for the heck of it.

One frustrating that about the Control app is that I often have to change settings several times as it keeps reverting back to previous settings. However, it’s been consistently set to expression pedal for awhile now.

        Any suggestions?

My setup (if it helps): Using most recent version of H9 Control app with latest version of Windows 11 connected to H9 via Bluetooth – and latest firmware on pedals. It’s on a board along with the two factor pedals, X-Space pedal and a Boss ME-80. The H9 was purchased new two weeks ago; the factor pedals were bought used.

Verify that the expression pedal auto calibration is set to ON in the System Menu > UTILS > PDLCAL > ON. If it’s ON already, turn it off then back on again.  Plug your TRS cable to the expression pedal first, then to the H9 EXP input. Move the expression pedal back and forth. You should see the value go from 0 to 100. That’s how you know the pedal is calibrated.

You know, that’s one of the settings that kept resetting. I had turned the auto-calibration on in the settings and it reverted to off. I had to do it a few times to get it to stay, but when I just went back in, it had reverted to being off once again.

I finally got it working now, though. I had to turn the setting back on, wait about 30 seconds, then click back and that seems to have worked. The pedal is now recognized.

            Thanks for the help!

Ensure the H9’s pedal calibration is enabled and functioning by moving the Sonicake FlipVol through its full range in the H9 Control app to verify it’s being recognized. If calibration looks off or unresponsive, try resetting the H9 or testing with another expression pedal to isolate whether the issue is with the H9’s input circuitry.
