I am a happy owner of H9 for many years, and, recently, purchased H90.
H90 is positioned only in the loop of Marshall jcm 2000 dsl
and is set in the global as “line”, both in and out, in serial.
In A/B comparison between h9 and h90, the second, set as above, has a very very low signal level.
H9, compared to H90, seems to ‘come to life’.It has a higher and more present sound
In your experience what could I have done wrong on H90?Thank you very much for your help!

Hello ming,
The H9 operated at instrument level, though it could take signals up to line level. Have you tried operating the H90 at instrument level instead? Taking a look at the JCM 2000 manual, I see there is a “LOOP LEVEL” knob that can be used to match an effects processor in the loop. If you prefer to run the H90 at line level, you may need to adjust this knob to match the right operating level. My advice would be to use one of H90’s INIT Programs which can be found on the User 2 playlist. It simply consists of to THRU utility algorithms. The idea is the level when the H90 is bypassed should match the level when the H90 is active. Adjust this loop level knob accordingly.

Sorry… even if I remain doubtful: how is it possible that my H9 max, without ever having made any level I/O setting/adjustment (instrument/line/levels) works – by itself – at an optimal signal level in the effects loop of the Jcm 2000, and with H90 I have these problems?? -

The H9 was designed to work mainly with instrument levels. It’s possible the amp loop level knob was set low from the beginning and you didn’t notice it. It may be the case if you set the H90 to instrument level instead of line level, you won’t have any volume disparity. Regardless, between the loop level and operating levels of the H90, you have everything you need to adjust things perfectly.

If you are on the User 2 list any INIT Program will already contain two THRU algorithms by default. Moreover, the Thru algorithms can be found under the Utility category of Programs if you search for them in the Presets menu.

Maybe I have understood the origin of that problem: after many tests I noticed that, in the transition from serial to parallel routing, the program loses level.
The program I tested was fath910. In my a/b test with my h9, setting the serial routing to h90, the signal level was identical to h9, unlike with tho effects in parallel routing, the level of h90 was almost half.
In the program I used (as a test) on h90, only the fath910 preset was active, the other (room) was bypassed.
Could it be a defect of my h90?
O some incorrect parameter?
