Hi,
From the MobileSheets app on my tablet, I manage my songs (sheet music) and setlists.
Opening a song triggers the MIDI configuration of my pedals, including the H90.
MobileSheets uses channel 3 and the H90 uses channel 5.
Therefore, MIDI commands written in MobileSheets and intended for the H90 use channel 5.I have 3 + 3 switches connected to the H90.
I want to assign 2 switches to turn the sheet music pages in MobileSheets. So, I want to send 2 MIDI commands from the H90 (channel 5), triggered by these 2 switches, to MobileSheets (channel 3).
Is this possible?
How should I proceed?Thank you

Can you please clarify your setup?
It sounds like you are currently using the MobileSheets app to control your pedals, correct?
But you are asking a question for how to send MIDI from the H90 to control the app. So are you trying to change the setup so the H90 controls the app instead of the app controlling the H90?
I’m not familiar with this app so I can’t provide much help with how to program MIDI from the app.
On the H90, you can send PC messages whenever you load a Program as long as MIDI out is set to transmit.
If you have an aux switch connected to the H90 and you would like to pass thru the aux switch as a MIDI CC message, you can find information for how to do that here (System > MIDI – Transmit): https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h90/1.9.7/content/system-menu/midi.html
This setup sounds a bit complicated so I’ll need you to provide as much information as possible for help configuring this.

Hi
Sorry, I did my best to explain the situation, but I will precise
“It sounds like you are currently using the MobileSheets app to control your pedals, correct?”
-> yes, opening a song triggers the MIDI configuration in the H90.
“But you are asking a question for how to send MIDI from the H90 to control the app. So are you trying to change the setup so the H90 controls the app instead of the app controlling the H90?”
-> I want to assign 2 switches (plugged in the H90) to turn the sheet music pages in MobileSheets. I need to send 2 MIDI commands, from these switches on the H90 (channel 5), to MobileSheets (channel 3). Sending a command, from the H90, with its own channel number as recipient’s channel, makes non sense !
“I’m not familiar with this app so I can’t provide much help with how to program MIDI from the app.”
-> the problem is not from MobileSheets (with channel 3) but in H90 (with channel 5), where I can’t find how the create a midi command with the recipient’s channel, in this case 3.
This is a very basic situation in Midi commands, in order to send them to the right device. You can understand that it would be inextricable if, in one setup, all the Midi commands have no recipient specified. Most devices have a Midi command list not editable by the user, and of course same command number for different actions.
“If you have an aux switch connected to the H90 and you would like to pass thru the aux switch as a MIDI CC message, you can find information for how to do that here (System > MIDI – Transmit): https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h90/1.9.7/content/system-menu/midi.html”
-> precisely, in the Transmit section, I can select the Sw number and a CC number, but how to send it to a specific device (= specific channel), as it is possible with all my other devices.
I fear this is a very very significant shortcoming in the H90 ; in that case, it would be great to fix in in the next update.
Thanks

Thanks for clarifying.
The H90 can only output MIDI on one channel. If you have the H90’s MIDI channel set to 5, it will output MIDI messages on channel 5.
The H90 will only transmit MIDI from the DIN output, so you would need to connect the DIN output to your iPad setup somehow (it’s not clear how your MIDI is routed).
I think this is possible if you configure your settings in a certain way, but why not just connect a MIDI controller directly to the iPad to turn the pages? Routing the switch through the H90 into the iPad makes the setup more complicated, and it sounds like the iPad is already acting as the “MIDI brain” of your setup.

I hope that could be possible …
Then I hope this shortcoming will be fixed in the next update.
Atm, I use a specific turn-page device, but it would be more practical to use 2 of my 6 Aux Switches pedal plugged to the H90.
I know I have a workaround, but considering how the H90 is expensive, I regret to had the CME H4Midi interface to filter midi commands and route these from H90 only to the tablet.
I remain confident that Eventide will quickly correct the H90 in this regard.
Thanks

Just to clarify, your request is for the H90 to receive and transmit MIDI on different channels?

Generally, a device has its own channel, that’s OK here for the H90. In my case, I chose 5.
This channel is the identification for this device, among all the devices in a setup.
A device (H90: ch5) should be able to write Midi commands attached to a specific channel, that is the identification of the device that this command is intended to reach (MobileSheets: ch3)
Here, in the H90, it’s not possible to specify the recipient device because no way to write its channel (ch3).
That makes no sense to write a command with the sender channel (here, H90: ch5) as recipient’s channel !
This is a basic subject in Midi.
