I have been searching over the past month, probably 10 or more hours on this topic, so I’m burning out on the subject…
I am looking to limit the number of presets in a User List in H90.
I have 2 SPACE pedals. They have this feature.
I have 2 H9’s. They have this feature.
I have 1 H90. I cannot find this feature either on line or in any .pdf or user groups…
From the H9 manual:
The H9 holds up to 99 Presets (1 to 99). 99 presets may be more than you need.
If you’d like to make it quicker and easier to find and load your Presets, the
number of active Presets can be reduced. Only the Presets that are active will
show up when loading.
At home I’m a goofball living room tech guy guitar and synth enthusiast, so none of this matters.
On the road I use all of my Eventide pedals at FOH Mix as hands on hardware inserts, which confounds and perplexes audio folks everywhere – I delight in their annoyance and they are surprised by the results.
The SPACE pedals I use especially because they have Knob Per Function inter-actability [and the sound]. H9 and H90 less so, so that limiting the number in the list is critical.
But I have no use for 99 presets and unfortunately can’t deal with the possibility of spinning off into the danger zone in front of 2,500 fans. I would like to limit the list to 4, maybe 10 presets just like the SPACE and H9.
I apologize if it is documented somewhere, I haven’t been able to find it.
Oh yeah, I’m hardly likely to utilize MIDI program change [across 5 pedals] during a live mix, so that’s not a solution I’m interested in.
In conclusion, if it’s there and I missed it thanks, If it’s not there, can it be added to the next firm ware update?

Hello,
The H90 has a fixed amount of Programs (99 per list) and this cannot be changed. We do not currently have plans to change this since it would require very significant changes to how the pedal works.
How are you selecting your presets on the other pedals?
Using Select Mode on the H90 makes it pretty easy to figure out which Program is loaded and which Program you may load next without spinning off into the danger zone. You may also have the additional program slots filled with “INIT program” so if something is loaded by accident it there will be no effects processing rather than the wrong effects processing.
MIDI Program Changes would be a very efficient way to manage all of your devices and is how many engineers and users would accomplish this task. For example, you can send a PC for any of your songs in the setlist to easily change the programs/presets on all the devices instead of individually managing each device. It just takes some time and effort to set this up properly.
Sorry if this is an inconvenience but my best suggestion would be to figure out how to manage the list of 99 Programs in a way that can work for your setup.

Tyler and/or others,
I have been exploring two minimalist midi (almost non-midi) work arounds for the OP’s concerns and I was hoping for some assistance with a midi question.
The first possible work around is to use a Wampler Syntax to operate an H90 as though it only has programs 1 through 8.
This simple little guy requires no midi programming. It increments up and down between 1 and 8 with two foot switches. Better still, using one switch, it will scroll to the beginning again and start the sequence anew when exceeding 8 (1234567812345678123…); that leaves the second switch for another function if desired.
However, the midi output with each press of a switch is one simple program change command (PC1 PC2 PC3 etc). So my question is whether a simple PC command like that will both recall the desired program AND load the program (similar to the way a CC command can “inc+load”)? If so, it seems like a great tool for the OP. If not, it seems worthless because the H90 would never actually load any programs.
Thoughts?
The other possible work around is to use a Chase Bliss Faves (switch between 6 presets and a live mode in various ways), but I’m still exploring how that operates on a midi level.

The Syntax should work well. There is no MIDI message to cue up a Program, any PC message sent to the H90 will immediately load that Program.
