        Hey all.

Wanted some guidance on how I should set the inputs on my H90.

I have the H90 sitting after my Two Notes Opus which is giving me my amp/cab modeling. I’ve tried setting the H90 input as both instrument and line and both sound great (line being lower overall volume) but I want to make sure I’m feeding the H90 with the input level it “wants” to receive. My biggest goal here is to make sure I’m not overloading the algorithms so that they behave the way Eventide intended. Thanks.

I would place the H90 before the Opus (with Instrument level or put it in the insert…

With the insert you have more flexibility deciding where to put it in the chain. Putting it behind the H 90 on the other hand provides you with a usage of the XLR output.

Of course there are no rules 😉

Ya I get that totally and I’ve been back and forth with that re the usage of the XLR outs. The issue is, some of my Opus presets are mid to higher gain which lends itself to delays and reverb after.

If I weren’t such an Opus fanboy, I’d just make a cleanish preset and do what you suggested. Lol.

I have my Overdrive / Fuzz in the inserts of the H90. You can place them in front, after, in between or parallel. For me this is the way…

One of the things i love most about the H90 that i didn’t even consider before i got one is putting my “amp” (UAFX Dream 65) in the middle of the signal chain (insert). This way i choose on a program by program basis where’s the best place for each algorithm to sit. If i want to use a wah or fuzz i can put it in front of the amp. If i want to use it more like studio effects, like the Black Hole reverb, or the synth like stuff, they can go after the amp. And some algorithms i sometimes put before, and sometimes after, like the pitch stuff; but with the joy of rerouting by turning a knob it means it’s usually obvious by listening which order you want. I think this is only possible using the instrument level, because it plays nicely with the other pedals that way (on my board it’s not the first or last thing in my chain). I have no experience of the Two Notes Opus, but i assume it is also instrument level to work with other pedals, unless using the XLR outputs, which is more likely to be line level.
