A huge thank you to the Laurie and the Eventide team for bringing back Music Mouse!!

The stars shining, happy day-night in computerland, Music Mouse is talking.

Now is it fair to wonder if the easter bunny has any surprises?

You can’t actually run Magic Mouse as a plug in inside Logic, but with Magic Mouse running make sure it is switched to MIDI mode in the preferences not SOUND and make sure EXTERNAL CLOCK SOURCE is switched OFF, then in Logic make an instrument track and load a synth of your choice then click on somewhere on Magic Mouse to activate it, it didn’t need to press record it just worked. Good Luck.

Create a virtual instrument in Logic. Make sure it is not muted. Set it to record. Set the instrument you want to use for it (piano, flute, etc)

set Music Mouse to output midi instead of sound

                should work then

I really like the idea of the Music Mouse. I bought the app, but was very disappointed because it can only be played with the mouse. Of course, this is in keeping with its name, and I understand Ms. Spiegel’s original idea from the 1980s of using the mouse as an instrument, but it is difficult to play with the app without constant visual control. Nowadays, the app should also be playable via MIDI controllers, which I believe are also suitable for playing (Roli Block, Touche, Sensel Morph, Kaoss Pad). Unfortunately, this makes the app practically unusable for me. Please implement MIDI control for the mouse position.

@Roland Sproll, Music Mouse can be played with any kind of cursor controller, not only a mouse, for example a joystick or any other USB xy controller. I don’t know about the Windows OS but on Mac, in “Settings/Sccessibility/Pointer Control/” you can turn on “Head Pointer” and play music using the motion of your head, and there are other options too.

We wanted to keep v1.0 as close as we could to the original, only adding MIDI sync and the ability to record into a DAW or music notation program and to be able to play a synth plugin. We already have MIDI control of the xy location on our list for a possible v2.0.

I also love this app but was very much hoping to control the polyphonic cursor via MIDI.  Eventide, is there any chance this is coming?
