I’m using Ableton Live 11 with a Quneo controller and trying to switch Octavox snapshots in real time during live performance. Using the Configure feature in Ableton, I can map the Octavox “Snapshot Selection” parameter to a MIDI CC, and Quneo can send CC values per pad. But this never seems to work regardless of how I configure the CC messages to be sent from Quneo. Is there a best practice or workaround for setting up a midi controller to change snapshots in Ableton?

          Hello,

Mapping the Snapshot selection to a MIDI CC is not the best way to accomplish this.

Since you are using Ableton Live, I would suggest using MIDI to trigger the different snapshots as this is a more precise way to adjust the snapshots. You can then use the Quneo to trigger the MIDI clips in Ableton.

In my screenshots below, it shows how 1 MIDI clips is mapped to the Global 1 snapshot, and another clip is mapped to Global 4.

More info about MIDI clip automation in Ableton can be found here: https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/automation-and-editing-envelopes/

Here’s a short screen recording that shows me triggering the MIDI clips to change the snapshots with my mouse, but you can setup your Quneo to trigger the clips.

Thanks, I actually did a test in a standalone project since my regular live set is packed with a ton of tracks, instruments and effects. Seems like both the CC assignment and the automation via dummy clips will work smoothly without any processor crunch, but both approaches tended to lag a bit in larger sessions. Thanks again for the help!

Glad to hear that works for you. You may want to look into adjusting some settings in Live if this is seeming to lag a bit for certain sessions. Launching dummy clips to adjust CC parameters should be a fairly light operation for Live, so it may be something else in your session or a global settings that is causing this.
