Hello,
I use a H90 as my main effects unit and I have begun pairing it with the Tone King Imperial Preamp. I purchased a PowerMax v2 to power both pedals.
I understand from this forum that a single 12v 500ma will suffice for the H90, so long as the centre positive green cable is used.
For the Tone King, this requires a 9W from either 9V (i.e. 1A) or 12V (i.e. 750ma). Therefore, I would require a current doubler cable to sum 2 of the 9v 660ma outputs.
However, it appears from the manual that the “parallel adapter” 8800 cable which is the only listed way to double current… is centre positive. And there doesn’t seem to be any way to either (i) double current for centre negative, or (ii) purchase something that could invert centre positive into negative.
Any advice if there is a way forward for this? I can imagine there are quite a few other fairly popular pedals that are both high current draw and centre negative (I also own a Friedman IRX which comes to mind).
Many thanks in advance!

Hello Unevenhightide, the parallel 8800 adapter cable is agnostic to the polarity. If you need to power a center-negative device, simply use a black Type 1 Flex cable. If you were to use a green Type 4 Flex Cable in combination with the 8800 adapter then the polarity switches to center-positive.

Thank you for the speedy response!
I guess I would have to purchase the 8800 then to use with the standard flex 1 cable – thanks for clarifying on the polarity.
I hope you don’t mind another question – my unit came with the EU 2 pin plug. If the PowerMax is not grounded through a 3 pin, I imagine that would cause noise and other issues?
I am using the pedalboard with headphpones sometimes hence this is a concern I am having. Many thanks!

We never supply a 2 prong cable with PowerMAX. It’s not our original one sent from our factory. And yes, the PowerMAX should be powered with a 3-prong cable.
