      Hi,

      I have a problem.
After not using my eclipse for a couple of months the "internal checksum error" message appears every time I power up the unit.

If I press a key it disappears and the unit works fine.

What should I do about this?

      Thanks for your help.

      Jorge

This could be a hardware fault, or an excess of cosmic rays in the neighborhood, but may just be a low battery in the unit.

First thing to try would be to change the battery.

        Hi Nick,

Thank you, that did help, the battery was completely flat.
However I just replaced the battery 10 months ago, what could have caused it to wear out that fast?

It may be related to how long the unit is powered up vs powered down, or it may imply that the battery backed ram is taking too much current.

If your unit is still under warranty you could consider sending it in for a checkup, but it would be easier and cheaper just to change the battery from time to time.

How can you check on the status of the battery?  I'm getting the Internal Checksum error" on boot up a few times now but not sure if it is the battery or a preset problem?

           Thanks

          Hi John,

The best way to confirm the status of the battery is to use a multimeter and measure the voltage of the battery. If you find the voltage is anything below 2.8v then it is suggested to replace the battery with the same rating of the original, which is BR2330. These may be purchased at your local electronic store or from Eventide direct. Just contact support@eventide.com to order one.

To be sure that the cause isn't tied to a preset, it would be best to initialize the unit to clear out the internal memory. This action erases all user presets saved to the internal memory, so you may want to back up any user presets you have saved to the internal memory. With the Eclipse powered off, press and hold the 8 key and then power on
It will load processing code; then the OS version; then it will say ?Clear Internal Memory?? Select Yes. It will clear memory, initialize and then will load and display preset number 100 ?Mute Series?. This is to indicate the process is complete.
