Hi, I’ having trouble midi-controlling an Alexander Pedals’ Space Race through the H9. I use a Boss MS-3 as midi controller and for some reason when I connect the Space Race directly to the MS-3, I don’t have any problem. No problem either when, between the H9 and  the Space Race, I connect another pedal, specifically a GFI Synesthesia.

I contacted support for Alexader Pedals/Disaster Area Designs and they concluded “That suggests to me that the H9 doesn’t connect pin 2 of its MIDI port to earth / ground.” Is this assessment true? Is there something to be done? is something wrong with my unit?

        🙂

Mr. Alexander is correct about older H9’s (before about serial 16329).

            See https://www.eventideaudio.com/forums/topic/h9-modification-for-midi-power for more information.

My H9’s serial is 34xxx. I’d imaginé this is a newer version. Am I  right? In this case, how can I check that the unit is working properly?

Given your serial number, you don’t have the above mentioned problem.

If your unit is still under warranty, you could send it in to be checked.

But, be aware that there are any number of issues that could cause this sort of problem.

Most commonly, bad cables and grounding, or incorrect configuration.
