I just ordered a Knifedrop and I’m wondering where I can find instructions on how to use an external aux switch to control it.

I’ve downloaded the PDF manual but I don’t see anything instructions there.

Also, I’m wondering if Eventide Aux Switches (Eventide OXU Three Universal Aux Switch System for Effects Pedals for sample) are the only AUX switches that will work with this pedal, or if any third-party AUX pedal will be compatible.

Lastly, what type of cables will I need to connect an AUX pedal to the Knifedrop, TRS or standard 1/4?

        Thank you!

          Hello,

A triple aux switch will give you the options to increment / decrement / load presets on the Knife Drop.

You may also use a 2-button aux switch for increment / decrement, and then use the pedal’s active/bypass footswitch to load your preset.

Either option will require a TRS cable. Any aux switch should work, but you will get different behavior depending on how the aux switch is wired up. There is an OXU setting for the Knife Drop that allow you to get the correct increment / decrement / load behavior.

The info below describes which function is tied to which connection when using a TRS cable by using the different triple aux switch settings in H90 Control:

          • Triple Aux: Tip = Increment Preset, Ring = Decrement Preset, Tip+Ring = Load Preset
          • OXU: Tip = Decrement Preset, Ring = Increment Preset, Tip+Ring = Load Preset

Let me know if you have any other questions.

i just picked up a OXU mini for my knife drop this week, but can’t get it working.  I followed the setup for a dot9 (https://youtu.be/Z4J1qNsiyLc?si=Kyf-HmOZtyvXNxNG) as well as trying all the different expression mode settings in the H90 app and checked the TRS cable with a cable tester.  i can’t get the OXU mini to switch presets in any of those configurations with both OXU switches on N mode.

            Any assistance is appreciated.

              Hello,

Sorry for the issues you are having. You should use the “OXU” setting as mentioned in the comment above.

With that setting, the left footswitch should decrement the preset, and the right footswitch should increment the preset. If that is not working, what is happening when you press the footswitches?

                The OXU footswitches do nothing.

Ok, some further troubleshooting steps you can take:

Are you sure you’ve connected the correct output from the OXU to the exp pedal input on the Knife Drop?

Do you have another pedal you can try using the OXU with?

Do you have another aux switch or expression pedal you can try connecting to the Knife Drop?

i tried the knife drop with an expression pedal (yamaha FC7) on EXP & EXP+AUX modes and it didn’t respond.  I set it up by varying the settings from toe down to heal down and then no change in the audio going back and no change in the LEDs.  This expression pedal works on a non-eventide uni-vibe clone pedal i have, which has an expression pedal input, as well as works on a keyboard i have and controls the mod wheel.

Not sure i have anything else to try the OSU with.

Maybe a bad expression pedal jack???
