People describe the H9000 as coming with thousands of presets, but I don’t get this.  The individual algorithms that come with presets are mainly the H9 ones, and I think they’re the same presets that come with the H9.  There are plenty of plugin chains, that sort of function as presets, but that’s different.  There aren’t that many presets on the unit, unless mine is missing them somehow!

The reason I’m asking is because there are many complex algorithms with abbreviated names for some parameter, and I don’t really know what they do or how to use them.  I wish more of the knobs were explained in the algorithm list, for any knob with an unconventional name.  And I wish there were more professionally designed presets, to help teach what to do with more complicated concepts (like when there are many early reflection knobs, or many comb taps).  The only preset we get is the default state of the algorithm.  I have the feeling there’s so much possibility but I can’t tap into it (and I generally know what I’m doing with plugin editing).

Some algorithms have text notes inside about how to use them, but the text is cut off at the end of the line and you can’t read the whole thing.  At least in my OS/Emote version.

Has anyone taken a complex algorithm and made a bunch of presets for it, that showcase its full range?  Is there any appetite for getting the H9000 onto a site like Patchstorage, to be able to share?

I think the confusion here is due to naming convention of “preset”.  The H9000 is different from older products because we introduced the concept of combining presets into FX Chain.

The H9000 comes with many Session, FX Chain, and Algorithm presets. Only the newer Algorithms (H9, H90, H9000 exclusive) have individual presets, while the older Algorithms from the H8000 and before do not. Of course, you are free to make custom presets from any of the Algorithms.

On previous products, almost everything was referred to as a preset.

If you have any specific examples of algorithms that you’d like more information for the individual parameters, I could help you better.

Viewing the full descriptions in the Algorithm Library manual can also be very helpful: https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h9000/2.2.11/content/appendix/algorithms/index.html
