strange happenings today. loaded a pro tools session where i’m using the H9000r.. with one of the new Grain algorithms… been using it this way since it came out.
played the session and the h9000 sound was all digital noise and weirdness.
tried loading in a new chain just to check and other chains played OK, just not the grain one.
so i went to maybe just reload the GrainMod algorithm… but it’s not in my h9000… i searched for using the search command and it didn’t show up…
then i noticed my eMote says the h9000 is running the 2.2.11 firmware from 2024…like it auto-reverted to this old firmware? i’ve been running 2.4.4 since it and the granular algorithms came out.
and this could explain why the chain was just digital noise.. it showed an algorithm that didn’t even exist in the unit and was trying to play audio through it (GrainMod)
i’m in the process of re-flashing it with 2.4.4.. we’ll see if that fixes.
can this happen? is this a thing? happen to anyone else?

re-loaded the 2.4.4 firmware and the pro tools session / chain with the GrainMod plug loaded and played fine. phew.
very curious to hear from Eventide about how an auto-revert to old firmware could have happened….

Hello,
That does sound pretty bizarre, and this isn’t something I’ve ever experienced.
Glad to hear that it is working correctly now, sorry to say that I can’t really explain what may have happened here.
Please keep us posted if you experience anything similar.

yes, it’s highly bizarre. i haven’t opened that PT session in about 10 days.. but have been working with the new firmware and grain stuff since it was released.
but, luckily, re-loading the firmware the emote i had in pro tools loaded the the chain AOK and it was back to normal.
seems like a pretty serious bug! and never known any gear to ever revert to a previous firmware.
could perhaps chalk it up to some sort of just display error, like Emote was *showing* the wrong firmware, even tho the correct was installed.. but the fact the Grain algorithms weren’t even in the h9000 anymore certainly makes it seem like the old firmware was indeed back.
well, hopefully it won’t happen again, but i’ll certainly report if it does.
