Howdy, anyone know if there is a mix lock feature somewhere in the H90? Mix Lock is super handy in Eventide plug-ins when switching between using the plugins as insert effects vs. bus effects. I use my H90 in the same way when switching between recording (bus setup) and in my amp’s effects loop (insert setup). Thanks in advance!

Bumping this to the top. For now, I’m managing separate lists where I keep mix 100% in 1 list for bus processing. Would still be handy to have a mix lock feature though.

While there is no Mix Lock feature on the H90, I would recommend using separate lists as you mentioned, or mapping a HotSwitch to toggle between two Mix values. This is an interesting feature request and there’s a chance it could be added in a future update. Do you have any suggestions about how you would like to see this implemented?

Thank you for considering this mcasen. The separate list method is working ok but a little cumbersome when I create new patches in one list and then manually copy/edit to another. I had thought about the Hotswitch idea, but it leads to forgetfulness when I have higher mix level programs that I forget to bump up to 100% mix before bus recording (uncovering phasing problems as I listen back later).

I was thinking of having mix lock implemented similarly to global tempo vs. program. Maybe under System -> Preferences as a toggle between Bus Recording (100% Mix Globally Locked) and Effects Loop (use Program-saved mix values).

I don’t know if this would be intuitive for most users though. Maybe others can weigh in?

Actually, there is a wrinkle I didn’t fully consider: which algorithm gets mix locked to 100%. I suppose it would be difficult to globally say both algorithm A and B need to be set to 100%. In parallel routing of algorithm A and B, this may be true. In serial routing, perhaps only 1 of the 2 algorithms would be set to 100% mix.

How do you guys handle this in the H9000 with whatever xx billon number of algorithms it runs? 🙂

(At the risk of talking to myself) I’ve been thinking about this some more and it would be optimal to have a mix lock option for each algorithm within a program. This way, it’s up to the user to decide if algorithm A or B should be mix-locked while auditioning multiple presets and playing with routing options. The mix lock feature should then logically be in the ‘Presets’ edit mode. Holding down each Quick Knob for a couple seconds would enter mix lock mode to whatever mix values P, A, and B are currently set to. Ok, that’s my $.02. Thanks for considering!
