Hello fellow H90 zealots,
First of all, allow me to say that I am very impressed with the Polysynth alg. It does seem to capture and even improve on the character / features of the GR300 and I find it to be especially capable when stacking two Polysynth ALGS in parallel. The filter is pretty great and the tracking with the SIFT tech is just superb.
In trying to keep this short, I will just go ahead throw this idea out there to see what sticks.
As far as non-GR guitar textures go, Attack/Release envelopes are pretty great for creating those synth pad swells. However, I don’t see a way to achieve this with just the incoming source tone. If I am missing something in the ALG menu, stop here and please point mein the right direction…
Otherwise, here is what I can imagine:
An algorhithm that has filter and amplifier that are controlled by their own attack/release envelopes.
Here are some specs that could make it quite useful:
–Filter multimode: LP/BP/HP/Notch w/ multiple pole options (At least 12dB and 24dB)
-Resonance capable of self oscillation.
-Bipolar Env Intensity
-Dedicated Cutoff (Unlike ModFilter)
–The VCF and VCA Mod options should both include their own dedicated Attack/Release envelopes.
-The Attack stage could be a set amount that that switches to the Release stage if the incoming source falls below the signal threshold.
-The Release stage could employ a delay module(with it’s own slow attack module on the front end to smoothly extend the release time to the user determined amount.
(Similar to doing volume swells into a delay pedal with some regen but maybe with some granular interpolation between repeats)
There would be a great deal of utility for something like this being that there does not appear to be a filter with the conventional parameters in the Oberheim/Moog vein of thought. And the A/R envelope could be useful for ‘Slow Gear’ effects as well as driving the Polysynth ALG on the front end or down stream in a multitude of ways.
Again, stop me if I am being too daft to look in the right place in the ALG list..
This is all just pie in the sky but, until the H9000 graces my studio, this will have to serve as my wishlist post.
