Yes. I noticed this too some months ago also. Unfortunately this is normal behavious as pointed out. For me personally it is not very logical. You have to do that extra step after recording the loop when you want something else than octaves. Also it is strange for me that the values can not be saved as you also noticed.
If you want some more advanced looping it is not practical.
