Yes, as much as I use & abuse the variety of H90 freeze options, the S/E+ (and its internal loop) is still there, for much the same reason. The selection of freeze ‘modes’ serve different applications.
…Having a freeze with added pitch shift with overlap/portamento would be amazing. I’ve found it hard to get smooth pad sounds on the poly synth plugin because it always cuts off the previous chord as you play the new one. Can work around with the freeze param and/or delays and verb tails but having an automatic freeze envelope would be killer.
You might be interested in a tactic I’ve been using for this. At its core, two H90 algorithms in Parallel routing, each with some type of freeze capability. It’s not automatic, but you can blend between two pads with footswitches. I even snuck in some ‘portamento’. Depending on the decay setup, momentary works as well as latched.
