In H90 Control > Edit > …… Right now I have to read up on pretty much every algorithm and still sometimes fail to understand what is going on exactly. For example, in DynaVerb, the very first knob is Mix. Easy. Except, why is it at 33 when set to 12 o’clock? Most other mix knobs although not all are at 50 when set to 12 o’clock……
As I am approaching Eventide dinosaur status, and I was in the room when this was decided (probably by me), I can directly address this. The reason 50% isn’t at 12 o’clock goes back to the Timefactor and Space where these algs originated. We found that when users were running these delay and reverb effects in front of guitar amplifiers, the knob resolution below 50% wasn’t wide enough to dial in a dry enough tone. Lots of folks were setting it below 10% to get the sound they wanted. So we stretched out the range to make it easier to dial in the right Mix. Presumably a there’s a of dynamic range loss at the input the input of a guitar amp when compared to something like an audio interface. Now back then, those were actual pot knobs, but I think this still holds with the encoder style knob on the H90.
