• H9000 using multiple digital ins/outs •
thanks for taking the time to think of and make some suggestions!
for this case it wouldn’t really work, because it’s a live setup and i would like/need access to all the instruments, without having to flip through a session preset to load a new configuration.. maybe if it was for something where i’d be playing specific parts with specific sounds the same every time, this idea could work, but i’m for the most part improvising and wouldn’t really work with the flow to have to choose ‘one or the other..’ in a live setting.
i also have a patchbay (TT..) connecting the outboard and mixers that are around, and also a 1/4” patchbay for the tape decks, and pedals and stuff.. and for studio / recording that system works great – if i only need a few sounds at a time.. but, not so much for live.
i do like your idea of session presets / scenes and have been meaning to explore that, but for live it still doesn’t exactly get me where i’d like to be.
is there somewhere to setup a formal request for this, or did i already do that by posting here?
thanks again for you help!
There aren’t any special configurations to get ADAT working, you just need to have the clocking set correct (either have the other devices sync to the H9000, or vice versa) and note that the sample rate will max out at 48k. A few options I can think of:
- You can connect your eurorack or kyma via ADAT to the existing setup. You would just have to choose whether you want to use the devices on the ADAT chain OR the AES chain. It’s very easy to make some Session presets on the H9k to load up either your AES or ADAT configurations, you would just need to be ok with the either/or scenario.
- You could get a 1/4 patch bay and connect all of the gear from the current AES chain to the patch bay. You can then always use ADAT instead of the AES, and it would be a bit more flexible than the first option suggested since you can patch in whatever you need on the 8 analog channels depending on what you are working on.
Let me know if you’d like any further information.
