Because the H90 can “only” run 2 algorithms at once, it feels and sometimes is wasted to use one for a very basic effect. So I would like to see more basic algorithms being improved and maybe even merged together with other existing ones. To give an example: PitchFuzz alone can be a wall of sound, as it consists of 3 pitches, a fuzz and 2 delays. On the other hand, EQ Compressor is a very basic EQ thrown together with a very basic one knob compressor. No high and low cut, no 10 band EQ, no attack, release, knee, etc.
I agree but I’m sure ET is putting out upgrades as fast as they can.
Along these lines, I’ve suggested that ET add some acoustic instrument preamp features to EQCompressor so the H90 could eliminate the need for a separate acoustic preamp. The acoustic world seems to be headed in the direction of IR loaders. I imagine these will soon be available in mxr and mini pedal sizes and cost $100-200 and those products could work well with an upgraded EQCompressor.
EQCompressor does have high and low cut but they could make the break-points movable. I’d like to see a couple of notch filters/auto-feedback destroyers … and an invert switch … a couple of compressor controls … a stereo spread knob … maybe some basic chorus and/or a basic aural exciter … and a return of the grand daddy of all EQ features: the H9 graphic display.
Pairing that algo with SP2016 or BlackHole or SpaceTime or Resonator, etc. might make the H90 even more appealing to a large class of acoustic string players.
