I know this has been mentioned previously, but could someone (maybe even from Eventide) explain why it is, that (ADDA) latency of the H90 is so high?
Taken from the manual:
Input -> AD -> Algorithm A -> Algorithm B -> DA -> Output = 4.5ms
Input -> AD -> Algorithm A and B in parallel-> DA -> Output = 3.8ms
So if one algorithm adds 0.7ms, two should add 1.4ms. Depending on the FX used, that’s actually ok IMO.
But now comes the problem. Using an insert, or running the H90 with both algorithms bypassed, it still stays at 3.8ms. But why? ADDA should only be 2.4ms from my calculation.
Anyway, this is just too high and makes inserts basically unusable in many cases. For example, I put a preamp and a drive in the loop of my H90. Using both inserts, the H90 alone added 12.1ms of latency (4.5ms + 3.8ms + 3.8ms). Even with both FX bypassed!
Many modelers / digital pedals have ADDA latency of around 1ms. I think, with the H90 being a premium product, that’s what it should aim for as well.
