It seems the battery’s positive terminal delivers 3VDC to pin 23 of a DS1689 “real-time clock chip with NV RAM control” surface-mounted to the main board. Is this the NVRAM being discussed here? If so, is it replaceable? The spec sheet I downloaded suggests each DS1689 is individually given unique instructions at the chip factory, and they no longer make them. If anyone here can give some insight or workarounds regarding this chip it could be useful. I’m experiencing similar problems as described in this thread with the H8000FW, with the added entertainment that I can only get it to actually run with a fresh BR2330 battery and the FW board removed (it boots as an H8000A). This works until I turn the unit off, after which a fresh battery is needed. Any ideas? Much appreciated.
