    Hello,

I wanted to share a suggestion for a following update. I’ve used an Eclipse practically daily in the studio since 2007 and live in a stereo guitar rig for hundreds of shows, prob about 800 live gigs. I also own an H9. I’ve been considering an H90 since its release. But I continue to use the Eclipse. The main reasons I’ve stuck with the Eclipse is that besides the half dozen patches I have battle tested on the road for years that I’ve programmed, it’s mainly that the Vintage Delay Algo is not the same on H9, and from what I can see the H90 is no different. What I’d like to see, and what would convince me to go with an H90 is to see an actual 1 to 1 port of the Vintage Delay algo from the Eclipse. There are some key differences between the Eclipse and the H9/90 algorithm that I feel would be a huge improvement over the current H9/90 state.

The one critical feature is the Low cut and High cut filters have precise frequency control and allow you to select the actual frequency number. So I can set a 120 low cut and 2400 high cut for my main filtered delay, and then have a CC# set up to set the cutoff at 7k to brighten it up. With the H9 the filter is just one knob with no ability to select the actual frequency. No matter how I try I can never get the behavior of the filter to sound the same. It’s trial and error, and the mid character of the filter is much different then on the Eclipse. For my taste, the H9 filter on the Vintage Delay algo is no where near as musical as the Eclipse.

Secondly, the modulation on the Eclipse Vintage delay allows for independent depth control for each delay line 1&2 whereas on the H9 it’s one rate for both. This can make a big difference in tailoring the modulation response when you have a shorter delay on one side and longer on the other because depending on how you set the depth in conjunction with tap tempo, you can get some amazing thick modulation sounds that can really yield some great chorusing sounds on repeats or slower mellow mod depending on if you tap in 16th, 8th notes or 1/4 with the tap tempo depending on the tempo of the song. It really enhances the stereo perception with moderate to higher settings and is incredibly useful while performing.

Thirdly, the feedback type on the Vintage Delay on the Eclipse is something I don’t find in ANY of the delay algos in the H9/H90 (correct me if I’m wrong) The Eclipse offers the ability to set feedback to “fb type : X-cross” which means the left ch feeds back into the right and right into left. This is critical in achieve deep ambient washy delay repeats. Just toggling between ‘Self’ and ‘X-cross’ is very powerful for achieving strict independent repeats or cross feedback repeats

I’d actually like there to be an additional control in this regard to enhance the original Eclipse so that you can set how much you’d like the X-cross regen. So you can set even more then the stock Eclipse Algo or less. But I’d be happy with just a port from the Eclipse as it stands.

There are other Eclipse algos as well that would be very welcome on the H90 as well such as the 4 Detuners algo, and Dual Loops but I’ll save those and other suggestions for another post.

    Thank you!
