I’m thrilled with all the new algorithms, esp. Cosmic Web and Glitch! As tbskoglund suggests, the new algorithms really shine when they’re used in the context of FX Chains, which are amply demonstrated in the new chains appearing in Banks #1701-1740. Many of these have already proven immensely inspirational for both sound design and musical applications. At this point, I feel that the upgrade to Gen2 has been extremely worthwhile, esp. if it means that the platform will continue to be developed well into the future.

Towards that end, the two biggest requests on my wishlist are as follows:

    1. Raise the 4-algorithm limit in FX Chains. The new algorithms beg to be linked to other effects in the H9000 library, but 4 algorithms is simply too low. For some time now, I’ve been contemplating how I would design FX Chains with 8 or more algorithms connected either serially or in parallel. Coming from a Kyma background where anything can be linked to anything else, the 4-algorithm limit is just too restrictive. Obviously, there would need to be some way of keeping track of the allocation of algorithms across the entire machine, but I’m hopeful this can be accomplished by the brainiacs at Eventide.

    2. Improve the output mixing functions by allowing multiple FX Chains to mix to the same outputs. Currently, we can mult the same inputs to multiple FX Chains, but not multiple FX Chains to the same outputs (unless one is using the H9000 in USB mode with a DAW). This would require further development of the output mixing functions in Emote.

For my workflow, these two structural improvements would be the most useful of all. Big thanks to the entire Eventide crew for all the hard work that obviously went into the latest update!
