Hi Everyone.  This is my first post and I can not find this answer anywhere.

I wanted to know if I can use a Voodoo Labs Commander midi foot controller to change the presets on my H9.  The say It only works on midi Channel 1 and it doesn’t have it own power.  They say it takes phantom power from whatever it is connected to.  I set the midi channel to 1 on the MIDI system menu but it doesn’t light up.

Any ideas?  Is the Commander not meant for this?

      Thanks in advance.

This is probably a question for Voodoo Labs, not us. Anything that can send MIDI Program changes should be able to select presets on an H9.

Maybe some of our other users can give some advice.

I actually got my answer with some further research and and I think it is an Eventie Question…with al due respect.  The H9 doesn’t send power to midi devies so NO the Voodoo Labs Commander does no ok on is own with the H9.

The rule is any midi device for the H9 should hav its own power source.  I am going to try the MIDI Moose from TECH 21 today and see if it works.  It’s very close to the Commander but it has its own power source.  I’ll keep everyone posted with the outcome.

And for the record…I LOVE MY H9.  Awesome sound quality and the iPad access is icing on the cake

This is true.  The H9 doesn't send power to midi devices.  This was an oversight actually that we now regret, but that's how it works.

I guess the next version will have this feature.  I don’t know for sure but it’s probably not likely that this could be fixed with a firmware upgrade since it’s probably a mechancal thing.

Unfortunately, it is a mechanical thing.  If you wanted to send your H9 in to us, we could make it work on your H9, but it's not something we could do through just changing software.

I’m in Canada and while that is very cool of Eventide to offer that, it’s simpler to just get the powered midi controller.

        Thanks Though!!

      Hi Everyone,

I got a TECH 21 MIDI MOOSE and it works like a charm.  It may be obvious but just in case someone googles this.  The H9 requires a self-powered MIDI Controller!

I also just bought the looper algorithm last night.  It’s excellent.  My pedal board is getting alot lighter lately…goodbye BOSS RC-1 (Great pedal.  I just don’t need it anymore.

I use Commander and Pedal Switcher with the H9, and yes it works. You have to set all your presets to match the numbers on the Commander, but you’ll need something to run and power the Commander like the Pedal Switcher.
