Trying to use a Hotone expression pedal with the H9 and having trouble calibrating. Goes back to zero at the toe, tops out somewhere in the middle.

What expression mode are you using? Both mode? Also, which model of expression pedal?

Yes I am in both mode and the pedal is the hotone ampero press passive volume/expression

When in “Both” mode, you must use TS expression pedals, not TRS. There is a way around this with a custom cable. This video explains everything related to expression pedals. Although this video is not for an H9, it works the same. Go to 9:14 and watch from there: https://youtu.be/SXTdMqAWu0o

I have another question on the same topic: if you use the same expression pedal do you need to calibrate it each time you power up your H9 or does it stay calibrated?
Seems to me that you have to rock the pedal back and forth once before you use it each time that you power up the H9. Is that correct? Or do I have to change a setting so that it starts working immediately?

Once a pedal is calibrated it remains calibrated. If you disconnect it and reconnect it while the H9 is on, however, pedal recalibration is necessary and is as easy as rocking the pedal back and forth. For optimum results, always connect to your expression pedal first before connecting to H9. It’s also better to connect to the H9 before powering on if the pedal has previously calibrated.

thanks. What do you mean by connecting to your expression pedal first? My expression pedals need no connecting since they don’t have input or output. I always leave the expression pedal cable in the H9.

That’s fine. Once you go through the calibration process you don’t have to mess with your setup.
. What do you mean by connecting to your expression pedal first?.
The H9 measures the load at the expression input when a cable is connected. If there is no expression pedal connected to the other end, we’ll now that’s a problem.
