What is the future of software support for the H9?
New algorithms haven’t been coming for years.
The latest releases of the H9 Control app on iOS and macOS are from 2024 and 2022 respectively. macOS warns that H9 Control is still relying on Rosetta for compatibility and that this won’t be working anymore starting with macOS 28.
The H9 is still being sold new and not at clearance-sale prices. New customers may only notice belatedly that they have bought a pedal that has effectively been EOL for several years.
The H9 is still a very capable pedal and I’d really like to see Eventide muster a bit more enthusiasm for it.

I agree. The H9 Gen 1 is my single favourite effects pedal ever made. The H90 pales in comparison to it. I hope Eventide continue to maintain support for the Gen 1!

What a coincidence.
The original post at the top is about the “Gen 1” H9. While writing it, I was completely unaware of the H9 Gen 2.

@eventide can you please comment on this? I am also happy with my three first-generation H9s and would like to know there is a future for the control software beyond MacOS 27
Ideally, for your devs, you would roll H9gen1 support into your new application so that you have less code to maintain.

Eventide
I love my H9. When you gave us all MAX and the software I was so impressed !
PLEASE DO NOT ABANDON H9 OWNERS.
Omission of support in the new control application is very unsettling.
Cheers

Eventide has explained years ago, that storage space in H9 is full and there cannot be new algos. And users of Max have received H9 plugin bundle. And quite recently all H9s have been Maxed for free.

irrelevant. What we need to know is that they’re either going to continue to support H9 Control or that they’re going to migrate the capability to the new control app. @eventide

Exactly. I am fine with the capabilities of my H9 Max – its awesome. And, I am fine with Eventide updating the hardware beyond H9. BUT, it would be great to be able to use any updates in the control software that enhance the workflow and preset management tasks, and/or maintain operating system compatibility.
Or not. YMMV. eieio.

perhaps they should just open the H9 SYSEX/CC interface, and let users provide the long term control app support. there are legions of people that create librarian and remote control apps and i have five H9’s that aren’t going anywhere unless the app disappears.
