      Hi ,

I would like to set properly my h8000 in spdif mode for use with my motu 828mk3

and the setup looks very compliquated ( so many pages & parameters to dive in !!! ).

and i don’t know which one to set to spdif.

      i don’t use the 8 channels.

Any help would be apprecied, thanks !!

      Bruno.

This is a sophisiticated unit, and a little User Manual study is usually necessary to use it.

That said, if you were to load the "SPDIF A->B" routing, that might do it for you (I'm assuming you have an H8000 and not an A or FW). Look at:

        1) LOADING ROUTING CONFIGURATIONS on p.19

        2) "SP DIF A->B" on p.20

hi, i tryed the spdif A>B setting but it doesn’t work!

i have the “EXT” led blinking under 44,1khz on the left of the h8000..

and in logic i see only the output 11/12 spdif of the interface available and for  the input only 11/12 but not spdif.

In what way does it not work ?

If you go to SETUP what do you see beside "Source" ?

If you hit [clock]  what do you see ?

This means that a routed input is unlocked – it may be one you are not using. The answers to the questions above will tell us if the SPDIF is the problem.

            Don't understand this – I don't know Logic well.

            Things to check:

            1) Cabling

            2) To select the S/P DIF digital input, set DIN 1/2 on the inputs menu page in the SETUP area to S/P DIF.

            3) To set the system sampling rate to the external clock’s rate, set the Source parameter on the clock menu page in the SETUP area to S/P DIF 1/2

I use an 828mk3 with my 8000FW & 7600 – if I were you I would consider using the analog ins & outs of the 8000, that way you will be getting the 2 x stereo effects processors for use as two send/returns from your DAW.   SPDIF will only give you one stereo send/return.  Has your 8000 got adat?

            • #146727

i have only one pair of ins & outs on my h8000..but i would like to use it in spdif to free some analog ins & outs on the motu for other devices and for the better audio quality

by the way..is that true that you get better quality in spdif than analog ?

            • #146728

              yes,my h8000 has ADAT

              Problem solved !!!

i had some wrong settings in the input & output pages and in logic i/o plugin (audio interface in & out routing).

before the 828 i had an ultralite and the spdif was 11/12.. now it is input 15/16 and output 13/14..

happy that it works finally.. thank you all for the help 🙂

              best,

              Bruno.
