H8000A vs H8000FW

  If an H8000 has the Options card installed with FireWire/ADAT/WC/etc does that make it a H8000FW then? Am I missing anything?

  If you have the FireWire card and the appropriate software, you have an H8000FW.

    Is having the appropriate software simply updating the software that’s on the firmware page by Compact Flash card? I only see the 5.6.1 software on the download page.

  The 5.6.1 software will be fine. You need a Compact Flash card to update an H8000FW.
  
  If the software on your unit is very old, you may need to update it twice, once before, and once after, installing the FW card.

  If they run the same software version they will have the same presets.
