Boss DD7 is a single-footswitch delay pedal so you need to hold it to activate the looper mode. The LOOPER algorithm on H9 works like a common loop pedal. You press the left footswitch to record, and press it again to play the loop. However, the DUBMODE parameter controls the way how Dubbing operates. If the DUBMODE is set to LATCH, now pressing left footswitch will toggle DUB -> PLAY -> DUB -> PLAY…; If it's set to PUNCH, you hold down left switch to dub, and lift off your foot it starts playing the loop
